No trip to Louisiana would be complete without touring the beautiful plantation homes of the area. And some of the most famous and most interesting are found about thirty minutes north of Baton Rouge.
Oakley Plantation House is famous in part because of the celebrated collection of paintings titled “Birds of America” by the artist John James Audubon. The home is on the National Registrar of Historic Places and has been very well preserved. It is located in the Audubon Memorial State Park near Saint Francisville, West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.
